10 2nd Avenue Houghton Estate Johannesburg – A Memorable Stay in a Posh Hotel

Much of the credibility of any trip rests with the place of accommodation that one chooses and for my stay in Johannesburg, I had the 10 2nd Avenue Houghton Estate Johannesburg chalked out in my itinerary early on. More than the travel agents’ suggestions, I had made it a point to check the proposed hotel online and honestly the visuals of the hotel bowled me over. Situated away from the chaos of the central areas, the property is in the country side but still close to some of the major tourist attractions of the city. In its vicinity is found the South African Museum of Military History and also the Killarney Golf Club, both of which are major landmarks.

Laced with all the modern amenities, the hotel caters to all its guests with the ultimate hospitality and provides the best of facilities. It has an excellent restaurant which is open for lunches and dinners and has the most interesting snack bar/deli that has superb options of snacks for all day munching. The Boardroom is very stately with the provisions of hosting meetings and conferences. Just as the outer façade of this Victorian property took my breath away, equally inviting and impressive are the elegant décor of the rooms which are spacious and done in light soothing colors to please the eyes. Sparsely furnished, the rooms give ample space to move around; the courtyard views from my room and the inviting waters of the swimming pool with seats and recliners near it would give me a chance to relax for sure but since most days were packed with sightseeing trips I would most likely use the services in one of the evenings.

I had a chance to sample the restaurant cuisine and it fared superbly in taste and presentation. 10 2nd Avenue Houghton Estate Johannesburg is indeed one of those places which can be easily recommended for rave reviews. The next sightseeing venture for me was the Two Oceans Aquarium Cape Town but the fact that I missed splurging in the pool of the hotel in Johannesburg was a disappointment I would carry with me.
